Is Tidus being ressurected considered canon?

I just finished ffx and ffx-2 for the 1st time and I basically 100%'d x-2 and brought Tidus back. Obviously he is alive but I feel like there wasn't really a need for x-2 to exist or to bring him back. They should've left x as it is since it's a brilliant and complete story. Perhaps one of the most beautiful stories ever told. My question is - is Tidus being alive considered canon?
