True 10th boards tip!

Hey 10thies!

So, it’s that time when everyone’s freaking out about boards and school exams. Let me just say this straight: Don’t stress about school exams—they don’t even follow the board pattern most of the time. They only account for 5 marks in your internal assessment, so chill.

Now, let’s get to the main stuff:

1. Do I need to study like a mad scientist for 10th boards?

Hell no. Just understand the concepts in NCERT, practice its questions, and go through the Exemplar. That’s pretty much it.

2. Is it too late to start? I want to score 90%+!

Not at all! Start now, study a couple of hours every day, and divide time wisely across subjects. It’s definitely doable.

3. I'm bad at Math, welp!

Practice, practice, practice—especially trigonometry and geometry! Don’t underestimate Statistics, trust me on this one. If you’re struggling, grab an RS Aggarwal (RD has too many repetitive questions, better for competition prep).

4. I suck at memorizing for SST/Science.

Get an All in One for SST and Xam Idea for Science. Focus on their chapter summaries and PYQs (Previous Year Questions).

5. Don’t take language subjects lightly!

Just because Hindi is your mother tongue or English is easy; don’t assume you’re acing them. My Hindi score tanked my overall percentage, and my English was decent at best. So read summaries, practice creative writing, and get the hang of forming concise answers—don’t ramble, don’t be too short either. A good balance is key!

Who the hell am I to give advice?

I scored 85% in 10th (not bragging, but it’s decent considering I only studied properly during PLs). I didn’t do any PYQs, just NCERT. Here’s my breakdown:

  • SST: 97%
  • Science: 95%
  • Math: 76%
  • English: 89%
  • Hindi: 70%

So yeah, if I can do it, you can too!

Extra Tips:

  • Underline important points in your answers—helps a lot!
  • Step marking is real, so don’t skip steps in maths.
  • Attempt all questions, even if you’re unsure. You might get 0.25 marks for an attempt (heard it from a friend who got marks just for trying).
  • MCQs & case studies are easy points. Don’t mess them up!

General Advice:

  • Don’t stop enjoying life just because boards are around the corner! Go out, hang with friends, and relax. You won’t get another chance to do that with them.
  • Exercise daily—keeps your mind fresh and gets rid of laziness.
  • NCERT is your Sacred Book. Treat it like one.
